Our Microwave broke down

“Our Microwave broke down, I call NAC and spoke to Rita who was so friendly and helpful gave me appointment date for engineer to come around to repair, he promptly arrived and checked our Microwave he could not fix it as he didn't have the parts he told us we need to get it fix he can order the immediately we said yes ,he got part delivery date and booked appointment to come and fix it. Engineer promptly arrived 8.00 am to fix it and also tested to make sure it is working we are very pleased with service provided by NAC. I highly recommend to my friends and family and neighbours.”

IMPORTANT GOOD FEW POINTS THAT I LIKE TO POINT OUT

“A few good points that I like to point out as compared with other firms that provide 1 year cover, I find a) the NAC operates in the system whereby the customer can talk to the engineer first after the booking is made. With this, the engineer would have the first hand of knowing what went wrong instead of getting it from staff who are not engineers or a technicians. b) The staff at NAC seemed to be able to speak to the engineers for my technical questions while I was on the phone before talking to the engineer finally assigned. c) The Engineer Huseyin NAC assigned to came as arranged, he was polite and helpful to questions I asked regarding the product that needed inspection. He did just so properly and assured there was nothing wrong with my oven. A very pleasant responsive engineer easy to communicate with. For the above reasons which all pointed to that there was no time wasted in clarifying issues, which might be a bit more unusual such as mine, before giving a go -ahead for the booking and without such thing called transfers. I am willing to use NAC platform again if need to, though there was a mixed up with the date of booking. Yet as said earlier, the direct contact with the engineer I was able to confirm the correct date with him directly.”

New Belt gone after 5 months. Tough luck - no warranty on service or part.

“Had new belt and bearings fitted to tumble dryer 5 months ago. First time belt had gone. I live on my own so not a heavy user. Belt and bearings replaced however the new belt has just gone. Contacted company. Only 3 month service warranty and no warranty on the part. Tough luck "in our terms and conditions" - you have to book another repair. What about if the fella did not fit belt properly or it was defective? Tough - hey ho. You have been warned.”

4 weeks, £120 down and no repair

“Engineer came out for an over door fault, very quick response, I was charged £120 on the initial visit and he said he'd order the part and be back 'next week'. At that point I was very happy, if I'd gotten what I was told I would have been satisfied. It's now four weeks later and I've heard nothing. NAC clearly subcontract out this work, so although I've called NAC and the person answering the phone is apologetic and said they'd pass a message to the engineer, nothing happens after that. I'm down £120, my oven still doesn't work and I've no idea what's happening. Deplorable service. It's an easy job, just replacing a micro switch that senses when the door is shut, if there's a genuine reason for the delay I feel I should have been informed.”

He didn't. Instead he turned up saying he had come about my spin dryer. Had he phoned I could have told him that was wrong. So far, so very slipshod and slovenly and not even worth a two star rating. Your engineer seemed uncertain about what needed doing but he sorted it out within a couple of minutes and I paid the agreed fixed fee of £85. Next time I shall try to find a local handyman.”

Communication is really hard

I chased him in a couple of days later he said he can’t get the part for weeks. I have been trying to find out what I can do. I have been charged £108 and I am no better off.”

“Tony, who came to look at my washing machine was very thorough in trying to find the reason for it overfilling. He ordered a new part for what he thought was the problem, but unfortunately it did not resolve the problem. He dismantled the whole machine to try to find the problem and concluded that it must be a fault in the programme board/switches. This would be expensive to put right so I decided that I will buy a new machine. I would recommend Tony for his thoroughness and would certainly contact him again for electrical repairs.”

“Attrocious. Booked an 'engineer' visit to check/service our Rangemaster cooker on which one burner was showing yellow flames. Engineer arrived as scheduled and confirmed yellow flame. He noted that usual cause was dirty burner crowns, but not in this case as we had already cleaned them. He then advised that despite no obvious damage or wear a replacement cap and crown would be required but this might not be the problem and then left. Some 30 minutes later he telephoned to advise that NAC could not get the parts and hence could not attempt a repair. Furthermore he advised that he had contacted 'gas safe' who would be arriving shortly to disconnect our gas supply! Checking online I note that the parts are readily available and in stock from several suppliers including Rangemaster. It is obviously ridiculous for a company of this size not to be able to obtain parts from the manufacturer when they are readily available. NAC gave me some lame excuse that there is a difference between private and commercial purchases relating to warranty - clearly this is nonsense despite their excuses. Cadent duly visited and the helpful engineer managed to disconnect the supply to the cooker but leave the boiler for hot water serviceable. He stated that this was not the normal approach - which would be to disconnect all - but was prepared to help. I did speak with NAC who sent me a form to detail the 'complaint which I completed. As expected I got a stock answer with lame excuses. So where does that leave me - a bill from NAC for a useless callout, cooker completely disconnected and no repair path. I have now ordered the parts from Rangemaster and await their arrival. I will then have to find (and pay for) a 'gas safe' engineer to reconnect the supply and test. In summary contacting NAC was a serious mistake which instead of helping have made the issue appreciably worse. Personally I would avoid! Having read other negative reviews on here I am sure that NAC will respond with a standard text - most likely an automatic 'bot'! To save them the bother I paste their usual response below. Update - Indeed NAC 'replied' with that exact text! "We are very sad to see your comments - These comments do not reflect the level of service that we strive to give our customers that is reflected in our "Excellent" overall TrustPilot Score. We appreciate, that while carrying out many thousands of repairs every month throughout the UK, sometimes, things will go wrong during the repair process, or a very small percentage of our customers may not be happy with a repair visit outcome. If you left the required identifiable information when leaving your review, then we will be able to find your repair and we’ll look in to your review content internally and contact you if we need to discuss anything further."”

I turned it on and it worked, overnight water had evaporated so I no longer needed the job to be completed. He should have left but stayed, he looked on his personal phone a few times while standing over the dishwasher. Opened the bottom, used my clothes to wipe around the bottom, of the machine. I was saying to him. “It’s fixed it’s fixed, etc. I told him I will never use this service again and put a review on”

“Our scheduled appointment was rescheduled due to the technician's unavailability. The appointment was subsequently moved to the end of the day. I waited throughout the day without receiving any communication until 16:34 on May 20th, just minutes before the technician's arrival. Unfortunately, this timing was too late for the service to be completed, as his arrival would have been after 5 PM, and I had prior commitments. The technician and I mutually agreed to reschedule for an earlier time, approximately 10 AM on May 27th. However, the technician arrived after 2 PM. Punctuality has been a consistent concern, as the agreed-upon timings have not been met. During yesterday's visit, the technician was able to reduce the noise from the fridge freezer; however, there was limited further action that could be taken. The technician indicated that the compressor is nearing the end of its operational life, noting that it was running hot despite the fans functioning. Given the limited scope of work performed, primarily consisting of tightening a few bolts, the call-out charge appears substantial.”

“I registered for NAC but got the service from a sub-contractor who came a few days after the call and did not thoroughly check my dishwasher. Had he done that, he would have realized the dishwasher probably dried up and was actually working on that day. The technician instead told my wife the appliance was too old and should be replaced. He proposed a number of options which were about 50% over market price, which I did not accept. I instead rewired the dishwasher and tried it up to find out it was in full working order. I've done ~200 washes since without problem. I'm therefore displeased that this company aims to replace appliances rather than repair them, whereas I've paid a hefty fee to get a repair. I'm also displeased that the company directs happy customers to trustpilot and unhappy customers to their internal feedback form. This feels unfair and dishonest. The sub-contracting nature of the relationship was also a surprise”

We had to buy a new hob for £1000 having also paid nearly that much for failed repairs. Warming drawer still broken after fitting a part costing £215 and no refund. Awaiting resolution and if that's positive I will update my review. Update 1 May 2026 - no response to complaints from NAC and the engineer now sending letters threatening counterclaims for his reduced workload and refusing any refund or resonsibility for failed repairs. We are left with a bill for £994 for parts that have failed to fix the repairs and he appears to have given up on trying to sucessfully repair these.”
